International trade can be a driving force for the sustainable development of agriculture. This is particularly relevant to lower-income economies, for which agriculture tends to account for a greater than average share of employment and output. Key issues in trade will need to be addressed through a combination of multilateral solutions and international cooperation with complementary domestic policies.
